Production Camp: Disney’s High School Musical 2 – ArtWorks Academy of Performing Arts

This summer we will be producing Disney’s High School Musical 2 with rising 7th-12th grade students, and 2024 grads.

We’re all in this together… again! The wildly successful Disney’s High School Musical team is back with another adventure for everyone’s favorite Wildcats.

On the last day of junior year, the East High gang can’t wait to get the summer started – they’re ready for summer jobs, money for college and to have fun. To that end, Troy gets them all jobs at Lava Springs Country Club – which happens to be owned by popular girl, Sharpay’s, father! While Sharpay schemes to steal Troy’s heart from Gabriella, her brother, Ryan, hopes to win the Star Dazzle Award. Everything comes to a head at the talent show, where the group has to remember their motto: “All for one, and one for all.”

AUDITIONS

This production is audition only, meaning your child must audition to be cast and we will select those we feel will be the best fit for the production. Auditioning does not guarantee placement in the cast.

Auditions will be Thursday, June 20 at 4:00 pm or 6:00 pm
Callbacks will be on on Monday, June 24 (times TBA)

Please sign your child up to audition on Thursday, June 20 at 4:00 or 6:00 pm
Those auditioning should prepare one song from a musical, which reflects the style of the show. It should be 16-32 bars in length. We will not have an accompanist for this audition, so students will need to bring recorded accompaniment on a phone or tablet.
They should also come prepared for a dance audition. The dance will be taught to them at auditions and they will dance in small groups for the audition portion.
Those who audition for Disney’s High School Musical 2 may be called back to read and sing for specific roles. Callbacks will be on Monday, June 24

Again, auditioning does NOT guarantee you will be cast in the show. There are limited roles for this production.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR AUDITIONS

As stated above, you will need to select a time and sign your child up to audition. If your child is also planning to audition for Musical Theatre Company, please sign up for both auditions.
They will use the same song to audition for both and do not need to audition twice, but we need to know who is auditioning for each. If they plan to audition at 6:00 pm, for instance, please register for the MTC audition and Disney’s High School Musical 2. audition that are scheduled for 6:00 pm (if they plan to audition for both).

CAMP DATES AND AGES

Grades: 7th-12th grade, 2024 grads
Times: 10:00 am-4:00 pm
Camp Dates: Monday-Friday, July 8-19, 2023 (performances July 19-21)

PERFORMANCE DATES

Performances for Disney’s High School Musical 2 will be Friday-Sunday, July 19-21, 2024. We will announce the performance times after enrollment is finalized.

TUITION

Tuition is $395. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is due upon enrollment to hold your child’s spot.
Enrollment will not take place until the cast list is finalized. You sign up first for an audition and if your child is cast, then you enroll.
The session charge listed, once you enroll, is your remaining balance.
The balance is due two weeks prior to the first day of the camp.
All transfer and withdrawal requests MUST be submitted through a Change Request Form. Click here to view our summer policies.

VENUE

Rehearsals and performances for Disney’s High School Musical 2 will be at the Loft Theatre on the ArtWorks Academy Main Campus in Norman, which is located at 3251 Market Place. Please note: due to space limitations at the Loft, we may have to change the performance venue. We will announce this as soon as we determine if this is needed and have gotten approval through the royalty company to change locations.

TICKETS

Tickets will be $15 each. They will go on sale the week of the show. Parents will receive an email with instructions on how to purchase tickets.
