School of Dance Fees and Policies

ArtWorks Academy’s School of Dance produces an annual recital in which all of our dance students will perform. We believe this is an important character building activity for our students. Every dancer is allowed their time on stage to show what they have learned and how they have grown as a performer through the year.

Each student participating in recital will be charged a $60 Production Fee in April.  This helps pay for the costs associated with producing the recital.  With this fee you get the following:

1. A video of your child’s recital.  This will be sent digitally.
2. A recital t-shirt for your child.
3. Two free tickets to the recital.  All additional tickets needed must be purchased. 

Every class will perform in the recital (unless noted as a non-performing class). Each dancer will be required to purchase one costume for each class in which they are enrolled.

Costume fees are divided into nine equal payments, which will be paid with your dance tuition at the beginning of each month. If you enroll mid-season, you will be charged for any Costume Fee payments missed.  If you enroll in January, for example, you will owe January tuition, your enrollment fee, plus the Costume Fee payment for September through January. We have switched to this drafting schedule, to help parents know more what to expect each month and not have multiple Costume Fees due right before the holidays.

Costume fees DO include tights.  They do NOT include dance shoes.

Tickets for the dance recital are $12-$15 each. They are reserved seating and will go on sale approximately two weeks prior to the recital. 

In addition to the Attendance Policy listed under general policies, the following policy applies for all dance students: Students missing more than three classes in the spring semester may not be allowed to participate in the recital unless private lessons (at the rate of $25 per half hour) are arranged with the instructor. This is to ensure that everyone is prepared for the spring performance.

Students may schedule private lessons on a weekly or biweekly basis. Students are allowed one makeup lesson per year. Any additional lessons missed by the student will not be rescheduled. If the instructor must cancel a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled at a time convenient to the student and instructor.

Private lessons will follow the school calendar for breaks, holidays and productions weeks, with no lessons during these times.

All private dance students must be enrolled in another dance or musical theatre class.
