Hansel and Gretel: An Original Ballet

This summer we will be producing Hansel and Gretel: An Original Ballet with 9-18 year olds. It is audition only, meaning students must audition to be cast and we will select those we feel will be the best fit for the production.  

About Hansel and Gretel: An Original Ballet

Hansel and Gretel, brother and sister, are left stranded in a forest where they encounter a witch residing in a house made of bread, cake, and sugar. The witch, with sinister plans to eat them, schemes to fatten up Hansel. Through quick thinking and bravery, Gretel outwits the witch by pushing her into the oven, saving her brother and securing the witch’s treasure before fleeing to safety.

AUDITIONS

This production is audition only, meaning students must audition to be cast and we will select those we feel will be the best fit for the production. 

  • Auditions will be Tuesday, June 18 from 6:00-7:30 pm. If your child is also auditioning to be a member of Relevé Dance Company, the auditions are the same evening. Students only auditioning for Hansel and Gretel will likely be released prior to 7:30 pm
  • Students should wear dance clothes and bring ballet shoes
  • If you will be out of town during auditions, please contact us in advance, so we can arrange another audition time for you.  You can call (405) 397-1824 or email Cheryl Morris at info@artworksacademy.com. Please make sure you get a message back confirming we know your child will be absent. 
  • Please sign your child up to audition on Tuesday, June 18
  • If they plan to also audition for Relevé Dance Company, please sign them up for both auditions
  • They do not need to prepare anything for auditions

Again, auditioning does NOT guarantee you will be cast in the show. There are limited roles for this production.

AGES AND REHEARSAL TIMES

  • Ages: 9-18 year olds
  • Students will rehearse from 4:30-6:00 pm on Thursdays from June 27 through August 8.  We might occasionally have additional rehearsals, if necessary.  

PERFORMANCE DATES

Performances for Hansel and Gretel: An Original Ballet will include both ticketed performances, as well as free performances in the park. 

August 9-10: Ticketed performances at ArtWorks Academy’s Loft Theatre

August 17, 24: Free morning performances at local parks

TUITION

  • Tuition is $200
  • Enrollment will not take place until the cast list is finalized.  You sign up first for an audition and if your child is cast, then you enroll.
  • The balance is due by the first day of class.

VENUE

Ticketed performances for Hansel and Gretel will be at the Loft Theatre at the ArtWorks Academy Main Campus in Norman, which is located at 3251 Market Place.

TICKETS

Tickets will be $10 each.  They will go on sale the week of the show. Parents will receive an email with instructions on how to purchase tickets.  In addition, we will have free performances at local parks.
