Voyage

Voyage is a theatre experience for the young, founded by ArtWorks Academy.  While there is value in all live theatrical productions, theatre developed specifically for children and youth is done so in a way that ignites their imagination and invites them to share in the wonder that only live theatre can bring.  Voyage produces plays and musicals for all ages.  Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) productions have been developed by theatre across the globe since the 1920s.  They encompass different forms of theatre that are attended by or created for younger audiences.  Theatre for the Very Young (TVY) is a theatre genre that has been popular in Europe and Australia for decades, but has only recently gained visibility in the U.S.  We are proud to offer both TVY and TYA performances.

Theatre For the Very Young (0-5 year olds)

Multi-sensory, interactive performances designed for babies, toddlers and their caregivers.  The performances are immersive and intimate, encouraging the child to become part of the theatrical experience through dramatic play, music, dance, and hands on props.

Theatre For Young Audiences (All ages)

Theatrical experiences for school-aged children and the young at heart. The works performed are meant to educate, inspire, and entertain. Performances are often a tool for transformation, intending to voice identity and empower children and youth to explore their creativity through educational material.

Imagination

Imagination is an essential component of childhood, helping children grow, think, create and play. Voyage productions are created with the child’s imagination in mind.  Our goal is to inspire wonder and curiosity in children.

Empathy

Voyage productions bring children and youth together to experience a shared event, a story. By watching a play or musical, children gain an understanding for characters and subtext within the story.  This helps them better relate to different situations, backgrounds and cultures, allowing them to show compassion for others.

Education

Studies show consistent participation in theatre and the arts greatly improves academic performances. Theatre teaches students about history, science, and cultures.  It also helps enhance their vocabulary and comprehension skills.
