Summer is an exciting time at ArtWorks Academy! This summer we have a variety of arts classes available for two year olds to adults. All classes with grade requirements are based on the grade the student will be in during the 2023-2024 school year. Enrollment in classes with age requirements should be determined based on how old your child will be by the first day of class.
A $20.00 non-refundable deposit is due upon enrollment to hold your child’s spot. The session charge listed, once you enroll, is your remaining balance. The balance is due on June 19. Students enrolling in two or more camps or classes will receive a 10% discount off of each camp or class. Families will receive a sibling discount of 10% for each additional family member enrolled. We have to manually apply the discounts and will do so two weeks prior to each summer camp or class.
If you need to withdraw from a class or transfer to another class, you MUST fill out a Change Request Form. Click here to do so.
Our six-week summer session runs from June 26-August 3, 2022.*
*We will make up the classes missed on July 4, on Tuesday, August 8.
All students enrolled in a Summer 2023 Camp or Class will receive a free t-shirt! Make sure you give us your child’s t-shirt size when you enroll. You will see a box to do so when you are completing the Student Information section as you enroll.
Parents or caregivers actively participate in our Parent and Tot classes with their child. Students learn basic dance steps and terminology through songs, stories, and imaginative play. Parent and Tot classes focus on ballet and beginning acro. Students will work on acro skills such as log rolls, forward rolls, wheelbarrows, etc. They will develop core strength and gross motor skills necessary for more difficult skills as they get older. Parent and Tot classes are a great stepping stone to our 3-4 year old classes, where they will participate without a parent.
Parent and Tot classes provide a wonderful way for you to bond with your child. They can also be a great opportunity for parents and students to make new friends or you can invite your friends or playgroup to enroll in the same class with you!

Acro Dance is different from typical gymnastics and tumbling classes. It is the seamless fusion of dance and acrobatic skills. The techniques taught help students to perform the skills safely on a hard floor (dance or stage floor) and to allow seamless flow from an acrobatic move into dance moves during choreography. It also helps to develop strong and well rounded dancers. ArtWorks Academy is one of only two studios in the area to be a certified Acrobatic Arts dance studio.

About The Drowsy Chaperone:
Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.
With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
Hailed by New York Magazine as “The Perfect Broadway Musical,” The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre.
Auditions: Vocal auditions will be on Thursday, June 22 at 4:00 pm or 6:00 pm at ArtWorks Academy. You will sign up to audition during one of those times. Those auditioning should prepare one song from a musical, which reflects the style of the show. It should be 16-32 bars in length. We will not have an accompanist for this audition, so students will need to bring recorded accompaniment. They should also come prepared for a dance audition. The dance will be taught to them at auditions. Again, if you want to audition, but know you will be out of town that week, please let us know in advance and we will schedule a different time for you to audition. You can call (405) 397-1824 or email Katie Morris, Director of Music, at katie@artworksacademy.com. If you don’t hear back within 24 hours, please try again, as we are very busy with multiple other shows and we don’t want to miss your email or call.
As stated above, you will need to select a time and sign up to audition. If you are planning to also audition for Musical Theatre Company, please sign up for both auditions. You will use the same song to audition for both and do not need to audition twice, but we need to know who is auditioning for each. So, if you plan to audition at 4:00 pm, for instance, please register for the MTC audition and the The Drowsy Chaperone audition that are scheduled for 4:00 pm (if you plan to audition for both).
Click on the link below and log in to your account or create an account if you are new. Once you have done that you will see a link to a page that says, “2023 Summer Auditions and Drop In Classes.” Click on that and scroll through the calendar to find June 23. You might need to click on ‘more’ within the calendar if not all four audition options are showing up.
Those who audition for The Drowsy Chaperone may be called back to read and sing for specific roles. Callbacks will be Friday, June 23 at 6:00 pm. You will be notified by email on Friday morning June 23 if you are called back.
Rehearsals: Students will rehearse from 6:00-8:30 pm on Mondays and Thursdays from June 26 through August 3. We might occasionally have additional rehearsals, if necessary. We will have mandatory rehearsals every night the week of July 31.
