This fun and exciting class for K-2nd grade students introduces children to the fundamentals of musical theatre. Students will explore singing, acting and dancing as they prepare for our production each semester. Beginning Musical Theatre (BMT) will give students a solid foundation, which will prepare them for Production Company classes.
We offer three sections of this class, all of which are held at our Main Campus. Please enroll in the section that works best for your schedule.
Students will perform in Xanadu Jr. (January 13-15, 2023), as well as Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical (June 8-11, 2023) alongside our Junior Production Company members. The production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical is the full-length production and will be done with all K-12th grade students in Beginning Musical Theatre, Junior Production Company, and Senior Production Company Students. BMT and JPC students will play the children’s roles and SPC the adult roles.
Classes for Xanadu Jr. begin the week of August 29, 2022.
Students enrolled in Beginning Musical Theatre for Xanadu Jr. will automatically stay enrolled for Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical (unless you let us know otherwise). New students wishing to enroll for the spring semester to be in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical will be able to get on a wait list. After Xanadu Jr. is over, we will notify students on the wait list if there is room in the class. Classes for Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical begin the week of January 30, 2023.
Tuition is $55 per month. Students taking more than one class (i.e. Beginning Musical Theatre and a dance class) will receive a discounted rate on additional classes.
In addition to the $55.00 monthly tuition, there is also a $75.00 Production Fee due each semester, as well as an annual $35 Enrollment Fee. The Production Fee helps cover the cost of theater rental, show royalties, costumes, sets, props, etc.
Toward the end of each semester, students in Beginning Musical Theatre may be called on a Saturday to rehearse with the entire cast. During the week of the show they will be called for two extended, mandatory rehearsals at the theater.
Students should wear clothes which allow for ease of movement to class. Girls need black ballet shoes and boys can wear black ballet shoes or black jazz shoes.
