Production Camp: The Little Mermaid

In this production based camp, students learn the importance of using their body, voice, and imagination, while working on the one act play, The Little Mermaid.  This camp is perfect for students with varying levels of experience!

About The Little Mermaid:

In the magical Kingdom of the Underwater Deep, a beautiful Mermaid Princess longs to become a human being.  During a frightful shipwreck a Prince is tossed in the sea and rescued by the Princess. When she sings him a haunting lullaby he falls in love with the girl with the beautiful, musical voice. The Little Mermaid defies her father the Sea King and makes a pact with Queen Odessa, trading her voice for humanhood.  Her friends, Aruba and Finny, are at her side through the adventure providing humor and fun to this children’s play of the beloved Hans Christian Andersen story.  The Little Mermaid includes the antics of Philippe the French Chef, salty dog Sailors, sidekicks Slithery Sirs and comical Castle Servants.

Please note: This is NOT the Disney version. This is a straight play based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story.

  • Grades: 3rd-8th
  • Dates: Monday-Friday, July 17-21, 2022 (Performances on July 21-22)
  • Times: 9:00-4:00 pm
  • Drop-off: 8:30-9:00 am; Pick-Up; 4:00-4:30 pm
  • Tuition: $250
  • Students need to bring a bottle of water, lunch, and two snacks each day. (Please avoid peanuts and tree nuts.)

A $50.00 deposit is due upon enrollment to hold your child’s spot. The session charge listed, once you enroll, is your remaining balance. The balance is due two weeks prior to the first day of the camp. Students enrolling in two or more camps or classes will receive a 10% discount off of each camp or class. Families will receive a sibling discount of 10% for each additional family member enrolled. We have to manually apply the discounts and will do so two weeks prior to each summer camp or class.

AUDITIONS

  • Auditions will be on Sunday, July 16 at 3:00 pm.
  • Enroll in the camp and we will email information about auditions prior to the audition date.
  • If you are going to be out of town during the auditions, please let us know in advance, so we can schedule and earlier audition time.

PERFORMANCE DATES

Performances for The Little Mermaid will be Friday-Saturday, July 21-22, 2023.  We will announce the performance times and number of performances after enrollment is finalized. 

VENUE

Rehearsals and performances for The Little Mermaid will be at the Loft Theatre at the ArtWorks Academy Main Campus in Norman, which is located at 3251 Market Place.

TICKETS

Tickets will be $8 each.  They will go on sale the week of the show. Parents will receive an email with instructions on how to purchase tickets.
