Mica grew up in Moore, OK attending Mount St. Mary Catholic High School. The arts have had a huge impact on her life. Her passion for music and theatre took her to the University of Central Oklahoma where she earned her B.M. in Musical Theatre. Mica has performed in community, educational, and professional theatres since the age of six, including ArtWorks Academy, UCO, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre, and Edmond Summerstock. She is a Equity Membership Candidate. Mica taught OCCC “College for Kids” theatre classes and camps and in 2018 began teaching voice and acting classes at ArtWorks Academy during the summers while in college. As a strong advocate for ArtWorks Academy, she came back “home” after graduation to continue her teaching career. Mica has been integral in the development and management of our satellite locations. She is a sought after private voice instructor, more than quadrupling the size of our private voice student roster. When not teaching she is a performer at Character Connection Co. and a cantor at St. James Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends; planning themed parties; cooking and baking.
Why do you teach? “I love watching students achieve the things that they thought they couldn’t do. My goal is for each student to grow in confidence and to learn how to navigate their natural talent. I love watching students learn to love themselves as they gain confidence through performing.”
What do you love about theatre? “To me, theatre is a gateway to empathy. In musical theatre, singing is an essential part of storytelling. Along with providing joy and entertainment, musical theatre can also evoke reflection, healing, and growth. The times I have felt most in tune with the world have been while watching or participating in live theatre. Having the honor of telling a story in order to provoke the thoughts and emotions of a living, breathing audience is something I am endlessly grateful for.”
