The 2011-2012 school year was an exciting time for the ArtWorks Academy theatre program. Our younger students took on the classic tale, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Jr. and the new musical The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Jr., which is based on the beloved children's book, Flat Stanley.

Our 7th-12th grade students took on two very different productions:  The Boy Friend and Hairspray.  Both shows streched the students and took them back in time.

We look forward to the 2012-2013 school year and we are thrilled with the opportunities that await our students.

In addition to our musical theatre classes, we also offer acting classes.  To view more information on our theatre classes, please click on the link to the left that coincides with your child’s grade.

Our musical theatre program has seen an explosive growth in the past couple of years.  Here are a few frequently asked questions:

Do you cast every student who auditions?

Absolutely! We believe the best way to learn is by doing. Every student deserves a chance to receive the same training, no matter their previous experience. It is our delight to cast every student. As our musical theatre program continues to grow, we will adjust our classes to accommodate all students who wish to participate.

What will my child learn?

Your child will learn about all aspects of musical theatre. They will gain a solid technique, with an emphasis on performing. Students will develop their skills in the areas of singing, dancing and acting. Each semester students have the opportunity to take a master class with a cast member of a touring production. In the past, we have had teachers from Mamma Mia!, Disney's The Lion King, Legally Blonde, The Wizard of Oz and Shrek the Musical!

How do you select your musicals?

Each semester the faculty at ArtWorks Academy strives to choose a production that will challenge our students, not only to learn new skills and improve upon others, but also to learn about different styles and aspects of theatre. We also seek to select material that our students will enjoy performing and parents feel is appropriate for their children.
